Brighton Artists Open Houses

I'm excited to be involved in my first Brighton Open house. Every May, over 200 of the cities artists throw open their homes and studios for visitors to take a peek behind the scenes.

I'm part of Bluebell Would's open house in Hove and will be showing some of my prints, greeting cards and badges alongside several other wonderful artists and designers, including fellow illustrator DelThorpe and Bluebell herself.

There's a private view on Friday 2nd May from 8pm and then the exhibition is open the first 4 weekends in May 11am till 5pm. (If you'd like to say hello I'll be there on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 18th May)

Top Sante Magazine

A month or 2 ago I was asked to create 3 illustrations for the Therapy issue of Top Sante magazine. My brief was to illustrate 3 new types of therapy, (interacting with horses, art therapy and even getting therapy over skype). I wanted to illustrate the calming influence of these alternative forms of therapy on patients so created 3 magical countryside scenes in the background to complement the main form of therapy happening in each piece. You can see my illustrations in May's issue on sale now.

The Cats of Cadaques!

Back in Summer 2012 I went on holiday to the French Pyrenees, Collioure, Barcelona and my favourite Cadaques (a beautiful town on the Costa Brava coast, full of white buildings, artists and cats!) I loved staying there seeing Dali's mad house, attempting to speak Spanish and greeting the large number of cats who live there (there's a cat sanctuary). I was determined to create a picture based on my Cadaques (and Barcelona) and finally it's done! Hope you like my psychedelic take on Cadaques, featuring a jazz cat, the Cheshire cat and a Dali cat painting the whole scene!

It's also been accepted into the CueB open Exhibition held at South London's Brockley Mess in February/ March every year. (Private view Friday 21st Feb 7-9pm).

Top Sante Magazine Illustrations

I was asked to create not one but two illustrations for this month’s Top Sante Magazine. The illustrations accompany an article entitled “New Year, No Fear” about gaining self confidence and self belief. The first image focuses on chucking out all the negative feelings, whilst the second is about taking a leap of faith. It felt like the perfect brief for my style! Here are the illustrations and an initial sketch too.

London Fashion Week Illustrations

A few months back I was asked to do some fashion illustrations based on October's London Fashion Week. I've not really done any illustrations that just focus on the outfit before so jumped at the chance. The designs were quite detailed so I was a little unsure if I could achieve the effects with paper collage alone, so I used painted washes and patterns on the papers first. (From Top to bottom Mary Katrantzou, Holly Fulton Burberry and House of Holland).

Illustration Limited's Christmas e-Card

I was delighted to be asked by my agent Illustration Limited to design their Christmas Card, to be sent out to all their contacts. My design need to include trees (to correspond to the 1 million trees campaign they support), but apart from that was a very open brief! I decided to take inspiration from the Snow Queen and my holidays to the mountains in France to create a magical looking design of a less threatening Snow Queen going through the landscape in a sleigh.

November Exhibitions!

This month I've got a solo exhibition of my work at Kaizo Hair Salon in Shoreditch. I've entitled it "Down the Rabbit Hole" as my work often references Alice in Wonderland due to the large number of bunnies in my work! It's on for the whole of November and you can buy both cards and prints directly from the salon or from me at my NOTHS shop.

I've also got some new on my ele in the UK Elephant Parade.  She is now on display in Cardiff from 13th November at the Wales Millenium Centre.
