Brighton Wedding Invitations

Last month I created a personalised wedding invitation design for a couple getting married in Brighton Pavilion in spring. I’ve included several of the iconic landmarks of Brighton too; the seaside, West pier, deckchairs, beach huts, plus the lovely couple themselves and their pussycats too! It was a really nice project and I always enjoy using lots of bright spring colours (and draw Brighton of course)!

The Big Hoot

As you might know, I painted a space-themed design onto a giant owl sculpture in the name of charity. My design, "One Giant Hoot for Owl-kind", joined over 80 other giant birds across Birmingham this Summer and there's still time to see them if you're quick. The outdoor exhibition is on till the 27th September, when they will be packed up and auctioned off in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital. CUT OUT + KEEP INTERVIEW   Some time ago, I was approached by Cat at Cut Out + Keep who do something called Superstar Sundays, where they interview designers/makers/artists after asking them to create their own version of Crafterella, the blog mascot. Crafterella is at least part cat and mine is no exception, although she is a superhero saving the world from craft project catastrophes too!   Read it here ➛

Lewes Exhibition

I've got a small display of my artwork including originals, prints and cards in the windows of Lewes Framers, in the picturesque Sussex town. My work will be on show and sale from mid September until Bonfire Night. Lewes is one of my favourite bits of the local area and has a wonderful Victorian outdoor pool called Pells Pools. Cross Stitch Patterns Work in Progress!

Some time ago my sister talented designer and crafter (Emma Scott ) suggested that my illustrations would make great cross stitch patterns. After several months of hard stitching and pattern designing we've now got several collaborative efforts in the form of Trees, Birds, Hot Dogs and Christmas all live to buy and download on my Etsy Shop.

Here are some more designs in progress. If anyone has any favourites do let me know and we can try to launch these first (or are there any of my designs you'd like to make?!) I think mine are the Alice in Wonderland characters and the Meows!

Brighton Open House- Christmas

I'm currently taking part in the Christmas Artists Open Houses event. My work is back up on the walls of Bluebell Would at 45 Westbourne Gardens Hove and you can see buy my prints, Christmas cards, greeting cards and badges as well as the work of lots of other talented artists (Bluebell Roebuck, Del Thorpe, Margaret McGregor Betts, Ruth Mullan, Leonor Berichevsky, Mark Charlton, Alexis Rayner and Helen Chong.

This coming weekend (13-14th December) is the last weekend and the house is open 11am- 5pm. Check out the Artists Open Houses website to plan your visit to over 50 venues across Brighton and Hove.

The Cats of Cadaques!

Back in Summer 2012 I went on holiday to the French Pyrenees, Collioure, Barcelona and my favourite Cadaques (a beautiful town on the Costa Brava coast, full of white buildings, artists and cats!) I loved staying there seeing Dali's mad house, attempting to speak Spanish and greeting the large number of cats who live there (there's a cat sanctuary). I was determined to create a picture based on my Cadaques (and Barcelona) and finally it's done! Hope you like my psychedelic take on Cadaques, featuring a jazz cat, the Cheshire cat and a Dali cat painting the whole scene!

It's also been accepted into the CueB open Exhibition held at South London's Brockley Mess in February/ March every year. (Private view Friday 21st Feb 7-9pm).

Cat Christmas Cards!

I've recently designed 2 adorable cat Christmas cards. Both were created as paper, wool and button collages and are now on sale in my Not on the High Street shop and at craft fairs. My next is in Brockley's annual Christmas Market on the 15th December from midday till 6pm.
